A Festival of Lessons and Carols at St Clement's

Our traditional service of Lessons and Carols as we prepare for Christmas Day takes place on:
Sunday 18th December, 5.30pm

The readings and music tell the story of the Advent of Jesus, from ancient prophecies to his birth in a manger at Bethlehem. The choral music is provided by the joint choirs of St Clement's and the Orlando Singers, with plenty of congregational favourites too.
Mulled wine and mince pies are served following the service, with all donations supporting the upkeep and repair of the church.

Bp Williams at St Clement's

We were delighted that Bp Rowan Williams was able to join us last Sunday to celebrate and preach at St Clement's. Bp Rowan preached on the Epistle and Gospel reading for Advent Sunday (Matthew 21: Jesus at the Temple), and its relation to our own personal preparations throughout Advent as we prepare to welcome our Lord on Christmas Day.

Our Advent celebrations continue with this Sunday's Mass at 10am, celebrated by Fr Robert van de Weyer. Bp Williams will be back with us in February for the 5th Sunday after Epiphany.

Building work starts on the West aisle roof

Those walking past St Clement's this past week will have noticed that building work is well under way as we look to repair and restore the roof on the West aisle of the church.

The church is open as normal throughout the building works, with access through our West Door on the corner of Bridge Street and Portugal Place. We expect the work will be completed in a few weeks, and the church structure will be protected by a temporary roof throughout this time.

Do please check back for more news as works progress!

Alongside our newsfeed, our website is a great way to find out details about upcoming services and events, and we also have a Facebook page where we'll be sharing photos and events at St Clement's.
